Mash Tun

Late last night I made a mash tun. I used a Coleman Xtreme. Because everything need to be extreme. I'm extreme like that. 52 quart capacity. I've seen that people really like the 48 quart capacity but this is the one K-Mart had and I wasn't going across town to Wal-Mart to find something different. If there was ever an example of a first world "problem" I'd say that previous sentence was a good one.

Anyhow, I twisted off the spout and inserted a 1/2 brass nipple and twisted on a ball valve on the outside and a steel braid to act as a filter in the inside. I got the steel braid from a water hose fitting at Home Depot. There was vinyl tubing in the middle which needed to be removed and that was nightmare. It was like one of the Chinese finger cuffs. That harder you pulled, the more the braid tightened around the tube.
