Anyhow, I twisted off the spout and inserted a 1/2 brass nipple and twisted on a ball valve on the outside and a steel braid to act as a filter in the inside. I got the steel braid from a water hose fitting at Home Depot. There was vinyl tubing in the middle which needed to be removed and that was nightmare. It was like one of the Chinese finger cuffs. That harder you pulled, the more the braid tightened around the tube.
